Traditional VS Self-Publishing 2019 Everything to Know Before Deciding

Conventional VS Self-Publishing 2019 Everything to Know Before Deciding Conventional VS Self-Publishing 2019: Everything to Consider Before Deciding You may be going to make an inappropriate decision. Its startling. You need to or have just composed a book and now its chance to settle on conventional versus self-publishing.Which can enable your book to see the light of day?Traditional Versus Self-PublishingYouve at long last settled on the choice. Following quite a while of saying I should, youve settled on the intense choice to at long last plunk down and compose your book. Its an extreme, yet fearless choice. Plunking down to get your message out on the planet will be one of the most testing yet remunerating things you do. However, presently that youve settled on this choice, you might be wondering:Should I approach a distributer and go down the conventional course? Or then again would it be advisable for me to independently publish and turn into a non mainstream creator? Which is better, conventional distributing versus self-publishing?Before the age of the web, the main way an essayist could get their book before millions was to send a book proposition and an inquiry letter to a customary distributer or operator. The essayist trusted that day’s guard had dranktheir morning espresso, woken up on the correct side of the bed and really given your letter and proposition in excess of a 10-second glance.Unfortunately, the probability of that incident was thin to none. This brought about splendid individuals such as yourself being denied the chance to share their encounters, stories, and information with the world. The Publishing Industry Is ShiftingThankfully, this industry is improving in any event for those of us who are astute in self-publishing.With the improvement of online commercial centers like Amazon, the distributing procedure has changed. You can circulate your book to everybody, paying little heed to what some traditionalpublishing house thinks about your idea. You have a book within you and the world needs to peruse it!NOTE: We spread everything in this blog entry and significantly more about the composition, advertising, and distributing process in our VIP Self-Publishing Program. Become familiar with it hereWhy Self-Publishing?The distributing world has changed, and its time for you to receive the rewards. Here are seven reasons whyself-distributing is the best course to take-and why you’ll reconsider before managing a distributing organization once more. #1 You Don’t Have to Wait for PermissionWith independently published books, you don't need to trust that anybody will give you the green light.Youdecide when and how to distribute a book.Youdecide whose hands your book gets into.Youdecide how effective you are.In different words, you don’t need to persuade any guardians to permit your book to come to the worldwide market.â€Å"But, don’t conventional distributers have a smart thought for what will sell or not? That is to say, on the off chance that they dismiss my book, they’re most likely right that nobody would need to purchase i t.†Wrong.Have you at any point knew about Tim Ferriss’s bookâ€Å"The 4-Hour Workweek†? It has been aNew York TimesandWall Street Journalbestseller for more than four years. It sold almost 1.5 million duplicates and has been converted into 35 distinctive languages.Oh, and get this: It was dismissed by the initial 26 distributers it was introduced to.Maybe youve additionally knew about a certain childrens book, the one about a little youngster with a lightning jolt scar on his brow who finds he is a wizard. The†Harry Potter†franchise is a patent blockbuster, with the last four books in the arrangement being the quickest selling books in history.Yet it was dismissed by 12 distributers in succession, and was just gotten in light of the fact that the eight-year-old girl of an editorial manager requested to peruse the remainder of the book. And still, after all that, after the editorial manager consented to distribute, they exhorted J.K. Rowling to find a day line of work as she had minimal possibility of bringing in cash in childrens books. Little did they understand the distributing achievement they had bumbled onto. Now, simply envision the various creators out there who halted after the initial 10 or 20 entryways closed forcefully, accepting the untruth that they didn’t have a beneficial idea. You can't permit others to decide your success.Self-distributing gives you the road to do that. You and your perusers choose the value of your words, instead of one individual at a distributing firm who may not understand the potential distributing achievement in their hands.#2 You Can Publish Your Work QuicklyIf you were to take your book to a customary distributer, it would take a long time to publish. For model, it might take as long as a half year for you to try and hear back about the book proposition. On Amazon, for instance, independently published writers get 70% of the sovereignties for an eBook evaluated somewhere in the range of $2.99 and $9.99. Presently that isn’t bad!#4 You Form Invaluable ConnectionsSelf-distributers around the globe have assembled on the web and face to face to give a network that underpins each other in distributing their work. These associations become inestimable as you get other together and-coming influencers like yourself.â€Å"Wait-so where might I meet these people?†Because independently publishing necessitates that you locate your own editorial manager, spread designer, formatter and dispatch colleagues, you wind up interfacing with individuals all through your entire keeping in touch with experience.Self-distributed writers likewise accumulate via web-based networking media stages, for example, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Reddit. The kinship permits individuals to grow a long ways past what they could have done all alone, or what they would have been restricted to with a conventional publisher.#5 You Control Your ObjectiveSo a very remarkable book is impacted by the rationale that energizes it.Is your thought process to make money? It isto dispatch another career? Is it to share your story? Is it to turn into an open speaker?Or, is it just something to check off your basin list?Remember, composing a book ishard work. Furthermore, nothing is more awful than seeing your difficult work be changed into something you didn’t need. At the point when you independently publish, you can protect the pride and virtuoso of your goal. Nobody is constraining you to sell more books, or to corrupt your message so it will arrive at more extensive audiences. You are notpigeonholed or made to become somebody you’re not happy with. You writeasyou, andforyou. What's more, that is freeing. That is independently publishing freedom!#6 You Control Your Creative ConceptThere are loathsomeness anecdotes about writers whose thoughts and voice got unrecognizable after they went down the conventional route. When you work with a customary distributer, you don’t simply sell them your original copy, you sell them your idea.Your book may become something you are not happy with. Or on the other hand, your fantasies for a continuation or an update might be totally wasted on the off chance that it doesn't follow the thought processes of the conventional publisher. But as an autonomous creator, you hold all out inventive control. You are liberated to be expressive with your work. On the off chance that you sell by means of the Amazon Kindle store, you can pick, and afterward change, your classes and watchwords. You decide your promoting endeavors. With 45 percent of digital book deals going to outside the box writers, crowds are indicating that they regard and need to buy the thoughts of everybody not simply those embraced by conventional publishers.#7 You Control Your FutureMost individuals hoping to compose a book need to win more cash, acquire opportunity or have a stage to share their ideas. When you independently publish and have total responsibility for thoughts, you likewise have total responsibility for future. There is no customary distributing firm to prevent you from selling a valuable online course that incorporates material from your book, beginning a talking vocation, re-discharging your book with a hardcover or book recording, or in any event, discharging a refreshed variant of your book. You decide the direction of your book, your thoughts, and your distributing profession when you self-publish.Even Big NamesChoose Between Traditional Publishing VS Self-PublishingThough there are a few advantages to customary distributing, even some entrenched and successfulâ authors concede that the delights of being a non mainstream writer exceed a customary distributing deal.Via SelfPublishing.comSo much, truth be told, that huge name business visionaries who have huge followings and couldeasilyget a conventional distributing bargain are picking to go the independently publish ing route. These individuals includePat Flynn, Jeff Goins, JoshuaFields Millburn Ryan Nicodemus, Johnny B. Their examination underpins the need to incorporate mechanical advancement and HRM to accomplish directorial execution. Associations existing in execution arranged societies favor formal strategies inside the HR division. These incorporate normalized choice strategies, efficient execution examinations, official occupation assessments and formal enlistment channels (Panayotopoulou, Galanaki Papalexandris 2010). Organizations in such a culture will promptly receive innovation to improve their HRM. Reception of innovation in HRM rehearses relies upon the achievement of HRIS, HRM office sizes and the assets used to prepare workers to expand a firm’s execution (Panayotopoulou, Galanaki Papalexandris 2010). Innovation could fill two needs in HRM, and the possible results rely upon the general point of the business. To begin with, it can make it conceivable to build the work hours in a day. Second, it can change conventional workplaces and make them adaptable, along these lines freeing represe ntatives (Porter Kakabadse 2006). Innovation permits HRM to upgrade its work force methodology. Here, HR rehearses encourage representative elite qualities, collaboration demeanor and authority aptitudes. Also, the HR division upgrades cross-utilitarian and multifaceted skills to acquire a more prominent similarity the work groups inside the association. Innovative procedures help HRM, for this situation, by encouraging or benefiting the utilization of virtual group systems and an electronic human-asset distributive plan (Wang 2005). The current data period delivers a constant desperation to produce and transport information in simpler structures (Chandra 2009). This prompts an expansion in the desires for workers to utilize the information quicker. Organizations having a momentary objective of expanding investor esteem center around lean and mean structures. The structures reward laborers who have additional activity hours and are constantly associated with the workplace through da ta and correspondence innovation (Porter Kakabadse 2006). Human Resource Information System Electronic-HRM (e-HRM) is an all inclusive term refereeing to the coordination techniques for HRM and IT to make an incentive for workers and directors (Panayotopoulou, Galanaki Papalexandris 2010). Throughout the years, the HRIS advertise has developed among huge and independent companies. HRIS programming sellers are offering flexile, ease, nonexclusive programming, which make it feasible for little associations to execute HRIS. It utilizes 3000 medicinal services experts and rolled out significant improvements to its HRIS to offer help and administration to its senior administration. The organization diminished expenses and lived up to its quality desires. This was conceivable in the wake of concentrating on three key territories of value execution, IT foundation and the board of data (Rodger et al. 1998). The HRIS is the center of HR work at Gamma. Prior to the reengineering, the HRIS was an interwoven of utilizations offering fundamental database capacities. It has become a coordinated effort instrument for arrangements in dynamic. The inventive HRIS empowers human asset engineers to assume a strategic job in the organization. It offers information transformation to new HR programming and an improvement to report approvals. It could offer record design choices for both old and new information, contingent upon the requirements of the client. It has better help for open-finished remarks and contains fields to catch data by worker, office, position and office association. Thus, there is no requirement for isolated databases. The HRIS offers a coordinated and advanced strategy for understanding inward clients and staffs (Rodger et al. 1998). It joins data frameworks at Gamma utilizing data innovation. Writer’s Opinion Researching and composing the paper on the job of innovation in connecting HRM with association objectives was, educational in different ways. Beforehand, I thought minimal about the significance of a HRIS in streamlining data stream starting with one office then onto the next. Discoveries on the exploration exhibit that the nature of the HRIS is as significant as the framework itself. I understood this when taking a gander at the instance of Gamma, talked about above. To the extent human capital goes, having a lively HRM framework guarantees the associations objectives and dreams stay clo se enough. Declining to receive innovation to smooth out and improve the limits of HRM, prompts a disintegration of the company’s upper hand. The subject of this paper permitted me to comprehend the significance of organization’s vision in driving the usage of HRIS. The advantages of HRIS to an association are tremendous. I think even little organizations should grasp thorough HRIS to improve their HRM and human capital. End The joint effort offered by HRIS improves information related execution of an organization. Reception of innovation into HR rehearses likewise permits the firm to get versatile and receptive to natural changes (Gong Chow 2010). The reception of HRIS relies upon the mechanical availability of the foundation and its condition. Expanding the size of the licenses to operate the selection of cutting edge advancements to build process computerization and effectiveness. In addition, high-performing associations place more accentuation on putting assets to help HRM approaches, and they are bound to grasp HRIS. The various methods of actualizing HRIS and its impact and reliance on organization initiative made this article intriguing to examine and compose. The Fair Employment Chance Policy Brief Writing Assignment - 1650 Words

The Fair Employment Chance Policy Brief Writing Assignment (Essay Sample) Content: The Fair Employment Chance Policy BriefStudents NameUniversity AffiliationFair Employment Chance Policy BriefExecutive SummaryThis paper highlights contents discussed by Von Bergen Bressler (2016) article, which evaluates the Ban the Box policy. The act restricts employers from discriminating or eliminating ex-convicts job seekers from participating in the entire hiring process in the initial step. The discussion evaluates how the job seekers with past criminal records face stigma in the public and corporate sector from employers. It further examines the impact of such discrimination on the life of ex-offenders after release from prison. The paper further evaluates solutions that have been imposed by different level of the government and particularly the Ban the Box Policy or fair chance law. In addition, concerns about the policy enactment are highlighted that include threats and risks at workplace because of hiring ex-convicts. The discussion finally highlights the recommended framework that should be applied by employers in hiring process.IntroductionEx-offenders often face significant discrimination, which hinders their integrating into society after finishing their jail terms across USA. Disgrace that US society associates criminal record with have been found to have adverse consequences for ex-convicts including difficulty in receiving university funding, impeding right to vote, hindering ability to rent houses and getting employment (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). Individuals with past criminal records are viewed as untrustworthy, unreliable, people who are inclined to steal and lack sufficient skills to handle tasks allocated to them.ProblemDepartment of justice has shown that between 60 to 70% of former inmates are unable to secure employment in their first year after their release. The data further shows that African Americans have twice as much struggle to have a chance of being called back for interview after being found with crimin al records following a thorough background check (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). Employers perceive that the only way to eliminate their vulnerability to civil liability is by refusing to employ potentially dangerous individuals. In return, this form of discrimination has been observed to make life of ex-offender more difficult after their release into public domain. Many ex-convicts have to start from scratch as often they usually have no shelter, money, clothes among other basic needs which mean securing a job would give them the much-needed foundation. However, with such kind of stigma and challenges, these individuals are inclined to rejoin criminal life for them to meet their daily requirements (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). Studies have revealed that stigma of incarceration; conviction and arrest reduce individual earnings in workforce. This poses a challenge to the society given that unemployment and low incomes increase criminal activities and recidivism. Additionally, workplace violence is mostly committed by strangers that are non-employees. Furthermore, criminal activities at workstations are less likely to be perpetrated by ex- offenders compared to regular employees with clean records.SolutionThe resolution to this problem is elimination of little box on most job application form that requires individuals to give their criminal records. This campaign or policy is referred to as Fair Chance Act or Ban the Box. Its aim is to abolish reviews of criminal history during the preliminary of employment applications and encourage employers to consider first person qualification before criminal history during hiring process (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). Theoretically, the policy also anticipated assisting in ensuring that employers follow fair employment guidelines such as whether conviction and the job available for hire are related. However, it should be noted that Ban the Box do not limit the right of employers to perform background evaluations as employment condition, rather they simply apply during application process.Typically, the law restricts employers inquiring conviction histories by limiting the things that can be asked of an applicant before employement, the time inquiry of conviction histories should be made, the extent to which companies can investigate criminal records (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). The fair chance act differs in following ways: job vacancies included, type of organization covered, stage that criminal records should be considered in applicant background checkup and degree to which they provide hiring bodies with principles on how to scrutinize conviction records during exclusive screening. Notably, majority of this laws apply to public sector only although the blanket of fair chance act affecting the entire employment sector is on rising.Currently, more than 100 counties and cities have adopted the law and the implementation together with embracement of the policy has gone viral across USA. USA government u nder Obama presidency boosted the policy using My Brothers Keeper Task Force initiative, which encourages employers to give applicants a fair chance by judging them based on their merits. The administration also introduced some changes aimed at assisting citizens with criminal histories become more productive such as eliminating the box in application of federal posts (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). Ban the Box has also been endorsed by Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) as it removed the criminal queries during work application in its 2012 guidelines. It further recommended on this revised guidelines that employers should not inquire about conviction history on employment application. The commission also approved the idea of the policy, which allows companies to evaluate relevance of individual's conviction to the post in light of applicants experience and qualifications objectively.Impacts of the PolicyIn particular the Ban the Box are intended to deter employers from eliminating applicants in the first step of hiring processes because of a criminal past prior they chance to examine their previous records prior they consider their qualification of the job (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). This law affect companies that use an automated system that receive applications via the internet. Such system usually eliminates undesirable applicants based on their criminal records without spending time to evaluate how qualified they are in relation to the job vacancy.According to 2012, EEOC guidance excluding applicant based on their arrest and conviction histories violates the civil rights act of 1964. The commission explained that such kind of screening could disproportionally target racial minorities especially Hispanics and blacks due to higher rates of arrest and convictions (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). As a result, EEOC declared that employers might face charges under Title VII of the civil right act lest they apply a targeted criminal background chec ks which are focused on identifying criminal conduct that relate to position in question.Concerns from EmployersAlthough the policy makes life easier for an ex-convict in the job market, it has created frustration and confusion among employers. The hiring bodies have their own wet of interests when it comes to hiring people with past criminal records. While most employers are willing to give ex-offenders a second chance in corporate sector, many oppose taking risks that they think could threaten their organization reputation and workplace (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). In fact, many of them are reluctant to be first to hire newly freed convicts and instead they are interested in employing individuals that have established a good record after their release.Opponents of the policy assert that it raise the stakes for possible penalties and litigation, increase insecurity and unsafety as well as complicate employment process. Most of them indicate that it is for employers to determine wh en to employ ex- offenders and how the criminal information is most relevant in the process of hiring (Von Bergen Bressler, 2016). When considering risk mitigation, it is necessary for the employers to access all the criminal records of an applicant as it a...

The Emigration Of Australia During World War II - 1034 Words

The Hungarians who migrated after World War II were refugees who came to Australia looking for a better life and in doing so significantly contributed to the country by not only offering their culture to the development of Australia’s multiculturalism but by also contributing to the academic and artistic life of Australia. The main reason for Hungarian immigration to Australia was the Hungarian Revolution that followed the disaster of World War II. In Australia the Hungarians quickly proved their dedication to making the most of their new life in Australia and in doing so, contributed to the development of Australian society. The Hungarian migrants who came to Australia after World War II were mainly refugees following the Hungarian†¦show more content†¦Naturally many Hungarians fled during the revolution and so 200 000 fled to Western Europe to escape persecution. Australia, along with more than ten other countries, reached out to the Hungarian refugees and offered settlement assistance to approximately 14 000 refugees (History Learning Site, n.d). Another factor that influenced Hungarian refugees’ immigrationt to Australia was that Australia was the furthest country away from the Soviet Union that were able to escape to because of their desperation. The Hungarian refugees came to Australia during the end of the policy of assimilation and so when they arrived in Australia they were warmly greeted, as shown in this photograph. Society was welcoming to the migrants and were supportive of them because of Hungary’s current situation. The Hungarian migrants had a relatively smooth integration into Australia and they were highly accepting of the Australian culture because of the amount of support they had received from the government and society. However some Australians were still racist towards the Hungarians and isolated them in the work place. When the migrants arrived they were offered two yearlong work contracts in chosen jobs. This was done by the government to quickly turn their new recruits into working, taxpaying citizens of Australia. Unfortunately, there were

The same day, his father noted down: Today March 6, 1475, a child of the male sex has been born to me and I have named him Michelangelo. He was born on Monday between 4 and 5 in the morning, at Caprese, where I am the Podestà  . Although born in the small village of Caprese, Michelangelo always considered himself a son of Florence, as did his father, a Citizen of Florence. Then, in at least two sentences, explain how these hardships might have influenced her poem â€Å"In Reference to Her Children. †Ã‚   All colonists were fighting for survival due to lack of food, the climate, ect. She was afflicted with smallpox and had very bad health. I think these hardships might have influenced her poem because maybe she knew she was going to die soon and wanted to leave them with those words. 3. Figurative language is an important element in poetry. Taking tone and style into consideration provide a simile that could be inserted in Bradstreet’s poem and briefly explain your comparison. â€Å"My love for you all is sweet like sugar† This could be inserted in her poem because she loved her children very much and it’s comparing her love to the sweetness of sugar. 4. Using the poem, answer the following questions. a. How many children does Bradstreet have? She had 8 children. . How many are girls? She had 4 girls. c. How many are boys? She had 4 boys d. Part 2: Extended Response 1. Was Hester Prynne a heroine? Write a persuasive paragraph defending or condemning her actions. Some say that Hester Prynne was a heroine. Well, what exactly is a heroine? A heroine is basically a female version of a hero. When I think of a female hero I think of super woman, not Hester Prynne. I don’t think she should be considered a heroine because she didn’t really do anything heroic, they say she dealt with her consequences with grace. This may be true but how does it make her a hero? All she did was endure the consequences of a crime she committed. If Hester Prynne is a heroine, than woman in jails and prisons might as well be heroines too! 2. Imagine the guilt Reverend Dimmesdale must have felt. Did he do the right thing? Write a paragraph to defend or condemn his actions in keeping silent for so long. I think he felt extremely bad and guilty because he was causing harm to himself about it. However, Reverend Dimmesdale did not do the right thing. He let the secret go on for a long time while basically lying to the people. He was acting like he didn’t know who Pearl’s father was. He was probably scared of being treated how they treated Hester and it made it worse that he was a Reverend. How to cite 1 07 Anne Bradstreet, Essay examples

Accounting Theory Basic Sciences & Applied Research

Question: Discuss about theAccounting Theoryfor Basic Sciences Applied Research. Answer: Introduction The research paper has critically reviewed and analysed the literature related to positive accounting after its development by Watts and Zimmerman in 1970s. The research paper has suggested some measures that can be undertaken for improving researches in the accounting settings. The research article revolves around the argument whether positive accounting theory is effective in attaining scientific objectives of accounting research. The argument has been analysed from various perspectives in the research article through the help of views and opinions of different authors. The research study attempts to explain the accounting method to be selected for carrying an accounting research for achieving its scientific objectives appropriately. The contribution of positive accounting theory in the field of accounting after its development has been analysed in detail in the report. The importance and deficiencies in positive accounting theory are identified and discussed in the overall researc h article. The main purpose of the research article is to propose some better theoretical models to be used in the field of accounting that can appropriately achieve its scientific objectives (Dunmore, 2009). In this context, the present essay aims to provide a critical analysis of the research article Half a Defence of Positive Accounting Research. The critical analysis of the article is done through summarising its main points, identifying the research question, discussing its theoretical framework, analysing the significance and limitations of the article. Summary of the Article The overall findings generated through the research article has been summarised in this section. It has been analysed through the critical analysis of the research article that positive accounting theory is regarded as one of the most influential theory in the field of accounting research. It has proved to be largely beneficial by the management of complex business organisations in selection of appropriate accounting choices for carrying out their daily business operations. The theory of positive accounting developed by Watts and Zimmerman is contradictory to that of normative accounting theory. The accountants initially use the concept of normative accounting theory before the development of positive accounting theoretical model. Normative accounting theory was mainly developed on the basis of accounting principles and as such is mainly theoretical based (Dunmore, 2009). On the contrary, positive accounting theory is developed on the basis of scientific phenomena and thus was believed to be largely effective for achieving accounting research objectives. The field of accounting is more practical based and has less reliance on theoretical concepts. Thus, positive accounting theory after is development was used largely by the researchers in comparison to normative accounting theory. However, the various deficiencies identified in the positive accounting theory have questioned its reliability on attaining scientific objectives of accounting research (Rhonheimer, 2000). Thus, various criticisms received by the positive accounting research have become the main reason for researchers to adopt better theoretical models. The author in the research article has proposed the use of better and improved theoretical models in comparison to that of positive accounting research for accounting settings. Thus, ontology and epistemology of positive accounting has been a nalysed and examined in detail in the research article (Dunmore, 2009). Research Question The research question as identified from the analysis of the article is What is the contribution of positive accounting theory in the field of accounting research.? In the context of this main research question, the article has also aimed to provide answer to the following sub-research questions: What is meant by the concept of incorporating positive approach in accounting settings? What is the importance and deficiencies of positive accounting theory in accounting settings? Does there is need of adopting better theoretical approaches in the field of accounting for achieving its scientific objectives? The research questions are identified by analysing and examining the literature review of the research article. All the questions are based on the overall discussion held in the literature review section. The literature review analyses the concept of positive accounting research through examining its importance and deficiencies from the views and opinions of different authors. Thus, all these questions have merged from the theoretical framework of the overall literature review of the research article (Dunmore, 2009). Theoretical Framework The theoretical framework of the research article is based on the approach of positive accounting used by the researchers for carrying accounting researches. It has been analysed from the views and opinions of different authors discussed in the theoretical framework section that positive accounting theory is not so effective in accounting settings. Watts and Zimmerman have proposed that positive accounting theory is based on scientific phenomena and as such is largely useful for testing accounting predictions. However, there has been various criticism received against the theory as to be more rhetorical than practical based (Dunmore, 2009). The researchers have claimed that positive accounting theory is not so effective in testing practical accounting predictions. The author in the overall literature review section has emphasised that positive accounting theory needs modifications in order to be successful in imitating natural science (Porta and Keating, 2008). The various authors in the theoretical framework of the resrch article have regarded the contribution of the theory in accounting to be negligible and thus it has not attained a legitimate place in accounting. The theory of positive accounting is limited only to study accounting practices but its practical implementation has not been successful (Chatfield and Vangermeersch, 2014). As depicted from the theoretical framework of the research article, positive accounting theory is based on value judgement and thus cannot be stated to be based on scientific based. The theory of positive accounting provides value judgment to the managers for selecting appropriate accounting method for maximising business performance. Thus, it is regarded as more of theoretical based and less practical oriented (Deegan, 2014). The reliability of positive accounting research is also questioned on the basis of appropriateness of natural sciences for studying the concept of social phenomena. Some authors regarded this as appropriate while some are against this argument (Ghnabari et al., 2016). In this context, Popper has stated that all scientific theories have evolved over a period of time through accumulation of either qualitative or quantitative data. The methodology of development of a scientific theory a proposed by popper can be divided into four steps. The first step involves obs erving carefully and developing preliminary ideas. The next step is to develop a theory on the basis of the empirical evidences. The theory developed should be developed on predictions that can be tested and as such should be quantitative predictions. This is followed by testing the predictions of the new theory developed with those of previous theories for accepting or rejecting the particular theory developed. Thus, Popper has claimed that this form the basis of accepting or rejecting a particular theory. Large number of theories is disapproved on the process and only small number of theories proves to be effective in meeting all these requirements (Dunmore, 2009). This clearly states that positive accounting theory needs to be tested on all the above parameters before its acceptance in accounting settings. This approach used by Popper is regarded as falsification criterion on the basis of which theories are regarded a true or false. Popper has regarded positive accounting theory to be not scientifically based as it is not based on quantitative testable predictions. The theoretical framework has also suggested analytical modelling for making a successful positive research program. This involves collection and testing of data before developing a theoretical model (Dunmore, 2009). Positive accounting theory is used by management for selecting an accounting method to be used for maximising a firm performance. As such, it is largely essential that it should be more practical based in comparison to having a rhetorical approach. This can be done by measuring and testing accounting predictions before selecting an accounting method. Thus, positive acco unting theory need to be improved so that it involves testing accounting predictions and provides an appropriate selection of accounting method for the management (Bazrafshan and Talebina, 2016). Significance and Limitations of the Article The research article is highly significant as it helped in developing the deficiencies in positive accounting approach that needs to be improved. It has provided an in-depth understanding about the concept of positive approach in accounting and the need of better theoretical models to be used in accounting. The research article will prove to be largely useful for the future researchers to examine and evaluate the appropriateness of positive accounting theory to be used in accounting settings. It will form a base for the future researchers to find empirical evidences against positive accounting theory and thus selection of more appropriate theoretical model to be used in accounting research. However, there are several limitations of the research article as analysed during its critical analysis. The major limitation of the research article is that its literature is limited and does not provide detailed understanding about the various aspects of positive accounting research (Dunmore, 20 09). The theoretical framework of the research article is wide but is not synchronised in a proper way. It does not give a proper understanding of the main problems in the concept of positive approach in accounting to the readers. Thus, the literature review section of the research article lacks a detailed analysis that would have been useful for the readers to understand the research topic in a proper way. Also, the research study is mainly subjective in nature and does not have any objectivity. This is due to collection and analysis of only secondary data in the research study through the help of literary sources. There is no practical evidence that presents the accounting problems encountered through the use of positive accounting approach (Dunmore, 2009). The research study is s mainly qualitative and does not undertake any type of quantitative analysis for carrying out the research study. The quantitative analysis can be done through collecting primary data for providing practical evidence in relation to the research topic. This will enhance the credibility and reliability of the research study in the mind of future researchers. However, the research work is mainly based on the views and opinions of other authors and thus lacks reliance. This limits the usefulness of the present research work for future researches that will be conducted in this context. The presence of practical evidence for supporting theoretical findings is necessary for maintaining the credibility of the research work. Thus, it will prove to be a major limitation of the research article impacting its significance for the future researches (Dunmore, 2009). Conclusion The author through the research article has proposed the adoption of a combination of various accounting methods for the purpose of accounting research. This is mainly due to several deficiencies in the theory of positive accounting as discussed in the overall research article. The weaknesses of positive accounting theory need to be improved so that it proves to be effective in accounting research for achieving its objectives. The outcomes achieved through positive accounting theory implementation should be more scientifically based as recommended by the author in the research article. The overall critical analyses of the research article have helped in developing an understanding of the concept of positive accounting approach. The contribution and limitations of the theory are analysed for developing an understanding of the positive accounting theory. The critical analysis will help in understanding the difference between scientific and societal theory. This will help in selection o f the most appropriate theory as per the situation given. Also, the critical analysis has also helped in gaining knowledge of various theoretical models that are used in accounting settings. The detailed understanding of positive accounting theory will prove to be largely beneficial in understanding various concepts in accounting field. References Bazrafshan, M. and Talebina, G. 2016. Gym Survey a Brief Analysis

Question: Discuss about the Gym Survey a Brief Analysis. Answer: Introduction A gym has conducted a survey based on its customers to understand their underlying behaviour. Further, a brief analysis of the existing literature on the subject is also carried out in order to identify the likely bivariate and other trends. Also, the given exercise also carries out a bivariate analysis based on the various categorical and numerical variables identified in the survey. Based on this analysis, the report offers managerial advice. Additionally, the report also focuses on the limitations of quantitative research coupled with potential abuse of statistics. Literature Review There is empirical evidence to support the idea that preferences with regards to gym and underlying behaviour is closely linked with the gender. This is particularly visible with regards to the motive with the two sexes approach the gym with the females looking to lose weight and the males focusing on enhancing the overall muscle and strength. Besides, females also exhibit a more balance exercise schedule which is apparent in their behaviour as it is part of a fitness regime for them (SMH, 2012). Hence, females tend to do exercises outside the gym also using alternative therapies of fitness such as yoga. Further, females in general tend to be more sensitive about their bodies and hence more embarrassed if it is out of shape (Sorgen, nd). Bivariate Analysis The given section tends to focus on bivariate analysis. In this regards the following three cases need to be explored. Case 1: Two categorical variables (Sample Size = 100) The two categorical variables of interest based on the result of the given survey and the associated literature review are the gender of the customer and reasons for going to the gym. The relevant two way table based on the given sample data is indicated below. Particulars Reason to go to the GYM Stress Relief Lose Weight Gain Strength Other Total Male 4 9 42 6 61 Female 3 27 3 6 39 Total 7 36 45 12 100 The proportion of the males and females belonging to the different category is shown below. Particulars Reason to go to the GYM Stress Relief Lose Weight Gain Strength Other Male 0.066 0.148 0.689 0.098 Female 0.077 0.692 0.077 0.154 It is apparent from the above that there seems to a stark difference in the reasons with which males and females go to the gym which seems to validate the existing literature review. For males, the primary reason to the gym is to gain strength which is referred to by almost 69% of the male customers. This is in sharp contrast with females where losing weight is the primary priority with almost 69% female customers vote. Case 2: One categorical variable and one numerical variable (Sample Size = 100) The categorical variable in the given case is assumed to be gender while the numerical variable is taken as the BMI. The relevant mean and standard deviation of the two groups is captured in a tabular manner shown below. Particulars Mean BMI Standard Deviation Male 26.7 3.2 Female 25.8 2.7 From the above, it is apparent that in general males tend to have a higher average BMI in comparison with the females. Also, the BMI of males comparatively have a higher range in comparison with females which is apparent from the respective values of standard deviation. The distribution of each of the variables can be derived from the respective graphs of the BMI for the two genders which is indicated below. It is apparent from the above graph that the distribution is non-normal and the data is skewed towards the left. Also, the mode, median and mean for the above data does not coincide 9 Eriksson and Kovalainen, 2015). It is apparent from the above graph that the distribution seems to be approximately normal as there is only one peak and the graph seems symmetric about the centre. Also, a bell shape curve is the result. However, the given data has some skew which is primarily because of approximated normal distribution (Hair et. al., 2015). Case 3: Two numerical variables (Sample Size = 100) The two numerical variables selected for this task are BMI and minutes on weight machine. The requisite scatterplot of the above mentioned two variables based on the given gym survey is presented below It is apparent from the above that there seems to be no definite relationship between BMI and the time that the given individual depends on doing weight exercises. Thus, it reflects that there are other variables which are a more accurate representation of the time spent on various exercises such as cardio, weights which would be driven by the gender and also the aim with which the given customer goes to the gym. The mean and standard deviation of the given variables is indicated below. Particulars Mean Standard deviation BMI 26.3 3.1 Minutes on weight machine 25 16 It is apparent from the above table that with regards to BMI the range of values is comparatively lower when compared to the minutes on weight machine. This is on expected lines considering the stark differences in preferences of gender and underlying objective. Managerial Advice Based on the above bivariate analysis and also literature review, it is imperative that the management should be sensitive to be gender preferences as these may be starkly different. Additionally, proper coaching and mentoring should be provided to individuals based upon their goal. Also, in view of the given data where 44% of the customers support the idea of a unisex gym, it is requisite that dedicated timings must be recommended especially females as these form a majority of these 44% customers. Besides, attention needs to paid on the equipment variety as about 68% of the customers consider it a significant parameter. Proposed Change Analysis Confidence interval estimation Customers supported the changes proposed = 748 Total customers participating in survey = 1000 Thus, p = 748/1000 =0.748 Standard Error (SE) = 0.748*(1-0.748)/1000 = 0.01373 The relevant z value for 95% confidence level = 1.96 (Hillier, 2006) 95% confidence interval lower level = 0.748 1.96*0.01373 = 0.721 95% confidence interval lower level = 0.748 + 1.96*0.01373 = 0.774 Thus, it may be concluded with 95% confidence that proportion of customers rendering support to the changes proposed would be in the interval (0.721, 0.774) (Hastie, Tibshirani and Friedman, 2001). Hypothesis Testing Ho: p = 0.5 H1: p 0.5 The level of significance is assumed to be 5% Z statistic (calculated) = = (0.748-0.5)/ 0.01373= 18.06 At 95% confidence level, critical value of z comes out to be 1.645 and -1.645. However, The z statistic as computed above does not fall within the critical interval which leads to rejection of null hypothesis. Hence, acceptance of alternate hypothesis takes place (Eriksson and Kovalainen, 2015). Thus, it may be concluded that proposed changes have support of the majority of the customers based on the gym survey results. Conclusion Based on the discussion in the above sections, it is noteworthy that gender preferences for gym customers are significant. Additionally, a critical factor which drives the exercise schedule is the underlying goal to be achieved. However, BMI does not act as a significant driver of the underlying exercise composition of individuals which is more driven from their end goal. Also, there seems to be majority support for the proposed changes which the gym management intends to bring. It is essential that these must incorporate the customer feedback obtained particularly with regards to emphasis on equipment and other behavioural preferences. Abuses of Statistics With regards to the questionnaires, possible abuse could have been possible based on how the same was filled by the respondent. For instance, if the questionnaire was filled in a group setting, the responses to certain questions may be modified such as one that dealt with whether the respondent is ashamed of the body. Also, the responses of the respondent in presence of peer group or instructor may be biased (Hair et. al., 2015). Further, it is likely that the data set may be biased owing to representation of only two nationals (i.e. US and Germany) and also because the demographics of the respondents may be significantly different from the population. Also, with regards to the responses to the proposed changes, there may be sample bias to include those who are in favour so as to project a positive image (Hillier, 2006). Besides, factors such as BMI could potentially lead to misleading conclusions. Limitations of Quantitative Research Quantitative research may not lead to general theories and relationships especially when the behaviour is being studied. One instance is the relationship between BMI and weight exercise duration which does not lead to any conclusive result. Besides, when there are categorical variables, quantitative research is limited. Also, the methods of data collection used for quantitative research may lead to biased result as has been pointed in the earlier section also (Eriksson and Kovalainen, 2015). Qualitative research is applied when the researcher needs to explore the underlying motivations behind the relationships explored. In the given case, if the gym wants to understand the prime motivations between the gender differences then qualitative research using interviews as the data collection method would be preferred (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015). University Application Essay Sample - Uses That Old Packet Or Creates One?

University Application Essay Sample - Uses That Old Packet Or Creates One?A college admissions counselor or an applicant in the US is ready to tell you that the college application essay sample you are using is just a package. The truth is that a lot of good and innovative writers have toiled for a lot of time and effort to get that packet. Here's the thing: it isn't really written by you, but it was written by the college or the school in some way. It's not that they want to give you the outline for your own style, but they want it for their own use. They are required to use the same format they use for other students who apply, so they do not want to waste money on a sample they cannot use.You should never be one of these writers. Be independent and read up on the field before you go off and write one for them. Since most of us are home schooled, we don't need to spend a fortune on college essay samples, and we shouldn't, if we only can afford to spend a dollar or two. When you take all of this into consideration, it will put you ahead of 99% of students. What can you do, then, to make sure that your college application essay sample will work? That depends on what sort of writing style you will bring to the table. If you have a formal style, which requires much more specific writing, then you will need a formal style college application essay sample. If you are into more casual writing, then a more informal college application essay sample should suffice.First, make sure that you know how to use the writing tools you have at your disposal. Just because you went to a writing class doesn't mean that it will help you. Most students get their instructions from teachers, not from textbooks. Once you have gotten a few good writing tips from a good teacher, you'll be able to create aquality essay that fits any writing style you happen to choose. You should also take advantage of campus prep courses and work with a writing coach. These courses will teach you all about g rammar and spelling and all that, while putting you in a position to be able to write essays effectively. Writing coaches are usually freelancers, so they can actually write articles or reviews, but they know all the ins and outs of college application essay samples and they can tell you how to take advantage of them. This is a cheap and easy way to put yourself ahead of the pack. Finally, make sure that you have an excellent sense of pacing when you are writing your application essay. No matter what school you are applying to, there is bound to be a proper length of time between paragraphs, so if you aren't careful about pacing, you will not have that very brief 'what are you doing in your spare time' answer that will land you the job of an admissions officer.

Body Ritual among the Nacirema

The concepts of culture, cultural relativism, ethnocentrism, and qualitative research methodology are essential components in the study of sociology. Culture is generally the way of life of any social group. This sociological perspective touches on the ways social groups think, ways they act and parameters that shapes their ways of life. According to Edward B. Tylor, culture entails morals, customs, beliefs, knowledge, symbols, and other habits that one is able to acquire as a member of a given society.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Body Ritual among the Nacirema specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Cultural relativism as a concept believes that the cultural practices of a person are relative to his/her own social affiliation. Anthropologists believe that no cultural practice is superior to the other as per its own circumstance. For that matter, no moral belief is considered wrong or right and does not supersede an y other belief of a different social group. On the other hand, ethnocentrism is a sociological concept where a person views the entire world with reference to his/her social group. Here, one believes that his/her ethnic group is more important than other cultural groups in the world and measurement of one’s culture is done relative to his/her own ethnic group. Lastly, qualitative research methodology is a field research method that aims at bringing out the understanding of concepts of social life. The whole concept tries to answer questions of ‘why’, ‘how’ and ‘what’ of any aspect. For instance, the research by Professor Linton is qualitative in the aspect that it tries to unearth the cultural practices and belief system of the Nacirema people. This essay analyzes the concepts of culture, cultural relativism, ethnocentrism, and qualitative research methodology from a sociological point of view in light to the body rituals among the Nacir ema. In addition, the essay will focus on the qualitative research methodology as used by Professor Linton in acquiring the beliefs and practices of the Nacirema people. Horace Miner’s article, â€Å"Body Ritual among the Nacirema†, reveals the rituals, habits and beliefs of the people of Nacirema. It discloses the whole life experience of man in that society. They believed that Notgnihsaw founded the nation. Notably, they practiced the culture of economic pursuits and mostly used the produces in ritual activities. The ritual activities centered on the human body that they believed was ugly hence individuals were to prevent the features through the influence of rituals and ceremony. Nacirema devoted shrines to assist in this process. So significant was the shrines that all families had to own one or two in their houses. On the shrine’s wall, Nacirema built a box where they kept charms that protected their lives. Nacirema had medicine men that were extremely powe rful hence highly respected. The medicine men were given extensive gifts for prescribing curative potions to sick people. Notably, even the poor had to give gifts to the wealthy medicine men since the community believed and respected their culture. Sociologically, they argued that such actions were right and all members of the society had to adhere to them irrespective of their economic status.Advertising Looking for essay on social sciences? These magical potions could spill over to the floor. Each family member had to enter the shrine room, bow his/her head before the charm box and proceed to mingle different forms of holy water to perform rites of ablution. The priests had the role of purifying the water. Clearly, members of the Nacirema community practiced these rites since they believed that t heir culture was the best in the whole world. Then there was the â€Å"holy-mouth men† who were second in command to the medicine men. These people were conducting mouth pathology in a horrified way. For instance, they used prods and awls to gouge out a client’s teeth in order to create a hole for inserting magical materials. The purpose of this activity was to arrest teeth decay, build strong relationship with friends and lovers, and improve moral fiber among children. A holy-mouth man jabs an awl into the nerves of the jawbone. Even though this practice was extremely crude, cruel and did not meet its objective of preventing teeth decay, individuals continued to seek out the activities of a holy-mouth man at least once in a year. There is also the private mouth rite where magical powders and bundles of smog hairs are inserted into the mouth. In the context of cultural relativism, there is no judgment that the culture of the Nacirema was bad since they continued to pra ctice it amid the horrific encounters in the process. The whole process inflicts pain into the jawbones and cannot be condoned in the present society. For example, some African communities that practices female circumcision have come under pressure from the international community and local governments to stop the process. Additionally, there is the temple where medicine men perform ceremonies like treating the sick. According to Professor Linton, the ceremony is always harsh such that rarely do extremely sick patients come out alive. However, sick adults continue to undergo the protracted ritual purification. Sadly, temple guardians cannot admit a client before giving a rich gift no matter the level of illness. Out rightly, these acts show lack of moral values for the sick people. They compare properties to life of human beings. This cultural practice is quite unethical. Markedly, the sick were stripped off all their clothes and forced to perform natural functions into a sacred ves sel. The medicine men could manipulate, scrutinize, and prod naked bodies of sick females. Nevertheless, they continued to practice it in order to enhance societal unity and even believed that it was superior to other cultures in the world. The societal members were ethnocentric, as they did not reject attempts by maidens to strip them naked and allow medicine men to manipulate their bodies. Nacirema also believed that mothers could put curses on their children and only ‘listeners’ could conduct rituals to exorcise the devils.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Body Ritual among the Nacirema specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Moreover, women with large breasts could move from village to village to make money by allowing natives to view them. The culture of the Nacirema reveals the ethnocentric nature of the community. They had persevered the harsh, painful, and crude practices with the aim of fulfilling their societal demands. In their context, these practices were not termed evil since truth is never objective. The research methodology that Professor Linton used to collect the cultural practices of the Nacirema is qualitative given that it tried to answer questions on why and how the community behaved the way they did. It disclosed the Nacirema’s belief systems, experiences, and perspectives from the historical point of view. The whole concept helped anthropologists to understand how and why the Nacirema were behaving the way, they did. For instance, the research exposed why the Nacirema paid due attention to ritual activities albeit the fruits of their economic engagements. In essence, communities hold their cultures irrespective of the consequences that they undergo due to the ethnocentric nature and cultural relativism in the entire world. Dropbox 6 Essay

Dropbox 6 Essay Dropbox 6 Essay A grievance is generally defined as a claim by an employee that he or she is adversely affected by the misinterpretation or misapplication of a written company policy or collectively bargained agreement. To address grievances, employers typically implement a grievance procedure. The grievance procedure may also be part of a collective bargaining agreement. A grievance procedure is a means of internal dispute resolution by which an employee may have his or her grievances addressed. Most collective bargaining agreements include procedures for filing and resolving grievances. Within a union environment, the processes will typically involve the employee, union representatives and members of the employer’s management team. Grievance processes may differ somewhat from employer to employer and under various collective bargaining agreements. However, most will have certain general processes in common. Grievances are brought to the employee’s immediate supervisor. This may be either an informal process or the beginning of the formal process. Generally, there will be a requirement that the grievance be submitted in writing using a grievance form. Usually, the supervisor and the union representative will review the grievance to determine whether it is valid. Also, most grievance procedures will require that the submission occur within a specified timeframe following the event or incident. Three possible outcomes may occur at this stage of the process: 1. The supervisor and the union representative may determine that no valid grievance exists. 2. The grievance may be resolved. 3. The grievance may not be resolved to the employee’s satisfaction, and it will move forward to the next step in the process. The next step typically involves the next level of supervisor in the company hierarchy. In most union environments, the employee will be represented by the union and is not present in the review process. A failure to resolve the grievance will lead to the next step in the grievance process. The third step in the process will lead to a review by a higher level of company management and potentially a higher-level union representative. Ultimately, the grievance may reach the highest levels as set forth by the contract. If the grievance remains unresolved through the highest levels of management within the company, many procedures include a provision by which an outside arbitrator may be called in to resolve the issue. Senior leaders from both sides are typically involved in the arbitration process. An effective grievance procedure provides employees with a mechanism to resolve issues of concern. The grievance procedure may also help employers correct issues before they become serious issues or result in litigation. There are several constraints that police leaders can perform to limit job actions by uniformed police officers. Some are a matter of resources such as inadequate or missing equipment, weapons, training, vehicles, etc.; which ultimately falls back onto the budget constraints or lack of funding available. Others come from the actions of the leadership. Some examples include the
